AF’s and Yasin’s Favorite Books

To be very honest, we rarely read to Yasin. At least, ‘rare’ compared to AF’s reading schedule when she was little. But, the times we do read to him, he tends to get very excited. It is hard for Yasin to focus on the pictures and words, but when he does, he gets a satisfaction that is very sweet to see. He claps his hands, and gives us big smiles full of warmth. Here are a few of his favorite picture books.

  1. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
  2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
  3. Each Peach Pear Plum by Janet Ahlberg
  4. The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson
  5. Where’s My Teddy? by Jez Alborough
  6. It’s Okay To Be Different by Todd Parr
  7. The Jolly Postman, Or Other People’s Letters by Janet Ahlberg

Every time AF finishes a book, she deems it her favorite. So, if you ask her, she’ll usually give you a list of her recently read books. But, she also has lifelong favorites, which she rereads every other day. Here are a few of them.

  1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
  2. Bleak House by Charles Dickens
  3. “Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman!” by Richard Feynman
  4. Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy
  5. The Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens
  6. Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare
  7. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (though AF claims she has outgrown it)
